Jar
West Hollywood, CAFoodie Meets Steakhouse
If you're a carnivore but looking for something that's more sleek supper club than steakhouse vibe, come to Jar. Chef Suzanne Tracht kills it with her dreamy take on steakhouse classic cuts and sides. Their pot roast is a universal fave, but everything is truly divine. Save room for dessert - the pudding is the bomb!
Pane E Vino
Los Angeles, CAIt's all about the patio. Lovely spot for lunch when the weather's nice or a date night dinner under twinkly lights. Casual, moderately priced Italian. Love the bucatini all'amatriciana. You can usually find a meter on Beverly, otherwise there's valet in the alley behind the restaurant.
Il Pastaio Restaurant
Beverly Hills, CATasty casual Italian in Beverly Hills. If you don't do gluten or you're on one of those "no white" kicks (you know - no pasta, white rice, white bread, white sugar...), they serve delicious spelt pasta. Lots of good salad choices, too.
Sushi Samba Seven
New York, NYSolid, reasonably priced sushi in a hip West Village setting. Great for groups and a fun place to start a night out.
Mastro's Steakhouse
Beverly Hills, CAThe downstairs tends to be really staid, so be sure to get a table upstairs where it's more bustling and you can listen to some Sinatra standards. The bar is a 30+ singles pick-up scene, which I'm not recommending anyone take part in but makes for amusing people watching. The private wine cellar rooms are great for a special occasion. Yummy seafood tower, steaks and the usual steakhouse sides. Be prepared to drop some cash: it's Beverly Hills, after all.
