"The World's Largest Roach Coach"

And in Tucson, "Roach Coach" is NOT a derogatory term, it means you are going to get some good, real, mexican food from a place with wheels. Personally, I think roach coaches are probably cleaner than most restaurants without wheels. Or, if the term "Roach Coach" makes you uneasy, use their website's description: "Tucson's Finest Outdoor Restaurante Mexicano Experience"

Anyway, this place on the south side of Tucson started as a hot dog truck, and added patios and extensions until it is larger than many other restaurants.

Regardless of what you call it, you will get some good eatin' at El Güero Canelo. For the classic experience, get a Sonoran style hot dog in a warm bun, load it up with everything (don't forget the mayo!), and go eat it on the patio. You don't have a choice, because the restaurant is just one big patio :). Or, go with the basic tacos or combo plate. Whatever you decide on, be sure to finish it out with all you can eat fresh-grilled green onions, pickled carrots and jalapenos, fresh salsa, and other great sides.

So, if you want to get some real Tucson culture, head down to the south side and visit this place - when all the billboards start showing up in spanish, you'll know you are getting close :)

Excellent Middle Eastern Food

This is my favorite middle eastern restaurant in Tucson. Great food, greek beer, and belly dancers some nights. Small, family owned and run, with a nice ambience. The owner is also very funny - and handsome (as the old menu used to point out - he claims his mother made him put it in).

Good food, reasonable prices, great quotes

This place has some really good and decently-priced food, pizzas and salads. They also let the employees take turns putting funny sayings on their billboard out front.
