Ivan Kane's Cafe Was
Hollywood, CAOh la la!!!
This snazzy french bistro and Piano Bar was C'est magnifique!
I went there for a friends b-day . A group of 8 women and one SEXY waiter (Robert). He took GOOD care of us. He even took our pictures. Drinks were EXPENSIVE so we ordered a bottle of wine to share. I am a vegetarian so I had the mac n cheese (6.00) Pomme Fritte(French fries)-5.00 and Home made potato chips were only 3.00 served with a garlic aoili. the later 2 were served in a paper bag. Everyone loved their food- you got no complaints from us ( Except the drink prices). They have a Piano bar- with a rotating Piano- so everyone gets a chance to see the Pianist. Only problem was the night we went, the guy sounded like a cross between Tom Waits and Louie Armstrong singing top 40's crap. I was expecting old French Can-Can and Cabaret style tunes... oh well. Great decor. If yu save up for it- it's a speacial night that won't dissapoint. They even have a Weekend Brunch and a recession menu(SU-WED) -Bon Apetit!
Trader Vics (at L.A. Live)
Los Angeles, CAMahalo ... it's BACK!!!
I love this place. No, it's not the original freestanding one in Beverly Hills ( which I never made it to) but the Aloha really flows in the new establishment. I haven't eaten in the restaurant, but the bar serves appetizers which are yummy- and the drinks are DIVINE ( which, let's face it- isn't THAT the REAL reason you come ?). Some live music is performed on their very small stage, but sounds fantastic. i recommend the Malayan Chicken Skewers and the Original Mai Tai (get it with their NEW Seven Tiki Rum), but you can also try the Scorpion bowl if you are 2 or more( fun for the WHOLE table ).
one drawback- PARKING is EXPENSIVE! We park in the east garage which is 10.00. The west garage is 20.00 but you can valet park there so it may benefit you to spend the extra dough.
Bali Ha'i Restaurant
San Diego, CAMUCH Aloha here!
This is the home of the Tiki Oasis kick off party each year. (2009- it's on August 13th)
I HIGHLY recommend reservations AND ask for a table with a view :)
East Coast Grill
Cambridge, MA3 nights of HELL
I heard about this on MAN VS. FOOD (on the Travel Channel).
3 nights before Halloween every year, they host a SPICY menu ONLY! Their most popular dish of event is the "Pasta from Hell" which is made with the Bhut Joloika ( a.k.a the "Ghost Chili") now know to be the HOTEST pepper in the WORLD!!! If they can do it with out the sausage, I am SO DOWN to try it!!!
