I love La Cafe. One of the first places to open up downtown that gave it a great neighborhood feel. Everyone who works there is great. I can take my dogs inside when I order, then sit outside for hours and people watch. Great paninis and salads, oh and the sliders kick ass as well. They have great hours (particularly for the neighborhood - open at 7 and close at 10, but then open till 4 am on the weekends). AND they deliver!

Great place - very laid back. Looks like a combo deli/butcher when you walk in, but then you go down the hallway to the back and you'll find a great room of long tables and a bar lining up the front of the room serving a bevvy of draft biers.

Exotic sausages that taste great. Laid back, cool vibe. Awesome staff. And close to home for me, in ever so hip downtown LA.
Perfect in its simplicity.

Real sushi, not trendy sushi-esque

When it comes to sushi, I don't want trendy a la trendy. Give me good, fresh fish. Sushi-Gen is perfect for that. It's quality.

I order the Sashimi Deluxe platter and it has absolutely everything I could possibly want - the sides of tempura, it had tuna, eel, albacore, squid, salmon - it was like a bottomless pit of sushi, so much so that I couldn't finish.

The price is def. right - I had sake & the deluxe platter for $30, with food to spare. If you're all about the food - this place is great. Expect a wait, but it's worth it. This is the real deal.

Lenny's Gourmet Deli

Lenny's Gourmet Deli is The SH*&!!!!!!! By far, the best deli around ANYWHERE. They have an awesome selection of drinks, salads, homemade turkey dinners - even sushi! But it's the sandwiches that are absolutely killer. Packed high, great and really interesting combinations, and always quality.

Do yourself a favor and order the Jimmy T. It's a must.

Great cuban food

I prefer this location to the La Cienega, Valley, or South Bay locations). Tables move quickly so the wait is never too bad, easier parking than the La Cienega location, and the food is terrific and inexpensive. Beware - garlic & onions are key ingredients!
