Takahachi Tribeca Restaurant
New York, NYNYCの第一
This place has some of the best fish I've had in NYC. You know, it's like Nobu, but better, cheaper, and you can get a table. They don't do 100 different things, but their specials are really wonderful. Get whatever they have featured that day, and you just won't go wrong.
Fifth Floor Restaurant at Hotel Palomar
San Francisco, CAThe Fifth Floor is a wonderful quiet lounge bar, right downtown, a block from Moscone, with an excellent selection of whiskeys, and top notch appetizers with excellent sauces. Come on Wednesday for their whiskey tasting flights. Try the Hudson Rye if you haven't had the pleasure.
Corner
San Francisco, CABrand new restaurant by the owner of Weird Fish
We just walked by there yesterday, their second day open, after a lovely dinner at Weird Fish. Italian menu and great wine selection. Everyone was very friendly, and excited about the opening. Looking forward to seeing how the restaurant develops.
Mission Pie
San Francisco, CAGreat Pies with a Great Story
Mission Pie was started as a student project, a collaboration between Mission High School and Pie Ranch, a non-profit educational farm down on the Central Coast. The pies are awesome, cheap, and tasty, the kids working there are super nice, and the the atmosphere is really warm and pleasant. They even have outstanding house coffee! Great for sweet or savory pies, and veggie friendly.
Palace Hotel
San Francisco, CAFabulous Brunch
I've been going there for Sunday Brunch since I was a kid. Very old-school Grand Hotel buffet brunch.
