Bryan's Pit Barbeque
Los Angeles, CATexas style. Beef. Pork. Chicken. All good stuff. I'm partial to the pork sandwiches. The ribs are pretty killer though. Friendly employees. Great location. Love it.
Improv Comedy Club
Los Angeles, CAIn the 90's I used to work the door at the Santa Monica location. Today it's no longer there. I miss that place. All is well however because the Melrose Ave. location is alive and kickin'. This club will provide you with the perfect stand up comedy experience. I worked there as the showroom manager way back when but as the years have passed and I experienced comedy club after comedy club the IMPROV still holds up as the very best. Great room/stage. Top level comics. Good food. Good bar. Good jokes. Definitely an excellent place to take out of towners.
(I do a killer Budd Friedman impression by the way.)
Dan Tana's
West Hollywood, CADan Tana's was one of the first restaurants I dined in when I came out to Los Angeles in 1992. As far as restaurants go, it's been downhill since that day. The best Italian food in all of California. You will not find many who will dispute this claim. I've read the other INSIDE WORDS and all this talk of Cannolis is making me crave one, even though I've never actually had one. Yes, yes, it's true. I have never eaten a Cannoli. I promise to change all of that upon my return to Dan Tana's.
Barney's Beanery
Los Angeles, CAOpen 365 days a year. A menu the size of the Los Angeles Times. Okay, it's not THAT big, but the size of it always puts a smile on my face. Great place to play pool (I never lose, care to play?). I tend to ignore the NO GAMBLING sign. The bar can get pretty packed which I think is the only negative. Down to earth fun seeking crowd. I love this place.
