BEST POTATO TAQUITOS ON PLANET EARTH and oddly enough, some of the only decent mexican food in echo park. Yay gentrification!

Best Sober Brunch

So, this place may close at 3 in the afternoon but the potential wait is worth it. Try the Scottish eggs for an interesting twist on a classic benedict and the multi-grain salade is tasty as all hell. Nice folks with a mini-French bistro feel. The down side is that the recently stopped carrying pink grapefruit juice and they upped the prices on the build your own omelet, which sucks cuz that is what I always order.

24 hour party people

This cafe is so hip and edgy that it almost seems old-fashioned these days. It harkens me back to a time before the great recession when women could afford stockings and men could afford to buy big thick slices of red velvet cake while wearing pinstripe suits and fancy hats. Nowadays, if you wanna see new stockings on pretty waitresses, this might be your only option and the Mac Daddy 'n' Cheese balls are the best thing that should never happen to your belly but does anyway, over and over!

Best Happy Hour

This place does make bomb ass margaritas indeed and they give you unlimited free corn chips and spicy salsa which is good. I have frequented their 2nd location in Newhall, CA, well, frequently, and while I am not entiely sure whether Don Cuco's is a chain, it sure doesn't feel like one...

Best Worst Restaurant!

The very first restaurant I ever ate at in Los Angeles, and sometimes referred to in certain circles as "The Dim Splotch" this place never fails to deliver exactly what you need from a late-night or brunch diner experience. Great menu and friendly staff, but one time I ordered a single piece of toast to prove to my drunk pals that it would take over an hour to arrive. UNfortunately, I was correct, but I think that might be because of my attitude at the time of ordering...
