Uncle Sam's is one of those gotta go places. You can always count me in for their cheese steak sub with fries. Add a cold beer, and you have a meal. Anytime of day is a good time to go.

You know you found the place when you see the "cheesy" (pun intended) wooden statue of an "Uncle Sam" outside the establishment. A few years ago a friend of mine dragged me here. He was born and raised in Philadelphia and is a self-proclaimed expert in 'real' phillies. He LUVS this place...the owner has the buns/bread special made for him by a local baker using his own recipe. The steak is chopped and grilled on a huge flat iron in the kitchen and you can watch them do it. Depending on how you order yours, it can come as greasy and gooey with fatty meat and cheesy cheese as you want with all the onions and peppers dripping off that your heart/stomach desires. Wear an apron--or a shirt you expect to permanently stain.
