The Inside Word for Shutters On the Beach

This is my beach hotel where I go when I want to toss on my shades, kick off my flip-flops and have a laid back day on the mellow Santa Monica beach. Their restaurant, One Pico, also makes a Chilean Sea Bass that will blow your mind.

Really nice L.A. hotel

It has a great restaurant and a great atmosphere. It’s not in the hustle and bustle of L.A., but you’re in a good location to get to everything. I wish we had more hotels in Los Angeles that were on the water – that have the view and you could walk out to the beach. Being on the ocean is always good. I would check ahead to the time of year you want to be here. I think it’s more fun when it’s less busy because their lobby is very friendly. They have a fireplace going in one spot and you can see the ocean. You can sit on a patio deck.

Shutters is cool. They are good to us. With my size (I’m 6’7, 350 pounds), amenities are essential for rooms. You’ve got to have comfortable beds and spacious rooms. I really want to stretch out, and I really want to enjoy myself.

Fun getaway

This is a fun local weekend getaway place. It has wonderful views. The rooms are crisp and white and fluffy -- just what you think from an ocean front hotel. The pool area is smallish but you are near the beach so you may not need it. The views are best overlooking the strand however try to stay in a room away from the outside patio bar area -- it can be pretty noisy.

If you stay here I recommend the restaurant, One Pico, inside the hotel. Fantastic!

All Beach

When you want to stay on the beach in Santa Monica, this is one of the best places. You can literally walk outside and step on the beach. And, it has an awesome outdoor pool with a great deck overlooking the ocean. So this is a great place if you are relaxing or with a date. Business trippers should head elsewhere.

Gorgeous.

Came here for a work function and it was absolutely amazing. Walking distance from 3rd Street Promenade and the Santa Monica Pier. You definitely want a room overlooking the ocean.

Ok this is the place. The beach, the rooms feel like your staying in some cool southern beach house. Everything is perfect. Stayed here a lot.

Wonderful brunch spot

Their weekend brunch, directly on the beach, is a great way to get away from it all for the price of a couple of mimosas.

Ocean View

Great place to stay. Make sure your room has an ocean view. If you are married, the spa is great for your wife and you can rent bikes right outside the hotel. Both restaurants are great - I prefer the one called Coast.

Literally one of my favorite spots on the planet. I absolutely love it. My daughter was a flower girl at a wedding here once and it will forever be burned in my brain. As will the views, the service, the rooms and most of all the air. So nice. If I were a rich enough man I'd live there.
