I don't consider myself a huge fan of modern art but MoMA does a great job of showing you that not all modern art is as it seems. Whether you like photography or architecture, this is a must see while you're in the city. On Thursdays the museum is free from 4-9PM but the line is long. Spend all day or leave and come back. Your ticket is good all day. Don't forget to visit the stores and pick up some design books, art books or something fun for the child in your life.

Great rotating exhibits

There are many things to appreciate about Modern art. Light bulbs as installations...not so much, but the rotating exhibits & permanent photography rooms never disappoint!

Membership pays for itself

If you join at the $300/yr level you get invited to opening receptions with open bar throughout the year. Open bar at the Moma with great music and art is an amazing evening. It's actually a better looking, more vibrant crowd at the $300/yr level than at the $1,000/yr (I've done both...) It's a great date or place to take a friend and you can also arrange private tours and will get invitations throughout the year to go to the museaum during hours not open to the general public

Nipples

That got your attention. I saw a little boy touching the woman's nipples in Henri Rousseau's "The Dream," so now whenever I think MoMA, I think nipples. Also seen in the MoMA: a French tourist eating an apple in the Minimalist exhibit; and some skinny dude passing out a badly Xerox socialist newsletter in front of Andy Warhol's soup cans while his friend filmed it for their MySpace page. MoMA is free on Friday's from 4 to 8. Expand yourself the modern way.
