Best Brewer

Every week, McCoy's sells about 7,500 pints of Hog Pound brown ale, Red Light Raspberry and Landing Light lager. The microbrewed delights travel only about 50 feet from their origin to empty glasses. For the past 11 years, brewmaster Keith Thompson has lovingly crafted a solid selection of more than a dozen ales, lagers, porters and stouts for McCoy's. "It's the freshest beer in midtown, if not all of KC," Thompson says. Having started in the breweries at Free State and 75th Street, Thompson now researches his craft by getting out to bars worldwide to taste as much beer as he can. With the opening of the Foundry, next door to McCoy's, the man behind the brew is responsible for even more of Westport's beer consumption.
