Female / 35 / Los Angeles, CAPopular Neighborhood Restaurant That's Worth Driving To Even If You Don't Live in the Neighborhood
Full disclosure: my old friend Mark is the chef and runs this place. However, I keep discovering that many of my friends who live on the westside consider this to be one of their favorite restaurants without knowing that I have a personal connection to it. It's old school Italian but not too heavy - the menu is massive so it's a fun place to come with a group of people so you can share a bunch of stuff (classic appetizers, salads, pastas, pizzas, fish, chicken, loads of veal options, tagliatta, a 22 oz porterhouse...). I especially love their beef carpaccio with mustard sauce, rigatoni bolognese, penne arrabbiata, house farfalle (with lobster and asparagus), scampi, branzino and the white fish - AND this awesome new pizza that I forgot the name of but it's like a meat lover's with jalapeno! - but I've honestly never tried a bad dish here. People even rave about the veggies that come with the entrees (amazing spinach). Full bar, great wine list and after dinner drinks - and you must try the chocolate souffle and the tiramisu. On the Main Street strip in case you feel inspired to do a little bar hopping after your meal.

OK so I have seen other fans but i have to say I am their biggest. The owners are great but be sure to get to know Sal the manager. He can not only get you the table you want (1 or 2 at the window) but can suggest the perfect wine to compliment a meal. I have to say I am lucky to be able to eat Italian in Italy but I did call the chef Mark to suggest a perfect meal while I was in Milan!!
