The Inside Word for Jones

StoneRokk & Graham Funke

Male / 31 / Los Angeles, CA

Design guru Charles Gladney introduced us to this quaint establishment about 12 years ago, back when he was known as "the meanest bartender in Hollywood." Rock music bounces off the brick walls, which are covered with glam photos of decades past, and every item on the menu is solid, though one could get stuffed on the table bread alone, quite possibly the greatest product of water and yeast ever produced by man. The delicious penne rigate disappeared from the menu some years ago, but there's yet to be an issue when such fancy has struck us since then. And the kitchen is open until 1:30am, which many times has saved the day for gentleman with varied and harried schedules, such as ourselves.

best at lunch time!

The weekends are fairly crowded-because it's a fun bar. The food is really great though, at lunch there's not a lot of people and the atmosphere is amazing!

Jones

I love the pizza at this place, but I love the bar more. Great music and stiff drinks. True story - unbeknownst to me, a friend from college came out from Boston/NYC to manage this place and to try to become an actor/model/dancer/whatever. I ran into him for the first time since the East Coast on my first trip here. He told me Ben Stiller likes the table under the painting of the poodle. I said it was a true story, not a good one.

Great Music and Bar

This place seems that it should belong in the movie Swingers. It has this really old school feel till out. Kinda Hipster, kinda young, kinda fresh.
You should enjoy the pictures of the old celebrities on the wall, the classic rock blasting from the speakers, and most of all the great crowd.
Have Fun!

The Jack Daniels bottles around the whole bar are really neat. It's a good happy hour spot and I've always had a good time when I've been here.

Two words for you

Jack Daniels. When you want to feel like a rocker, nothing like the red booths. Pizza is great. Drinks are strong. Apple pie is a must.

Always an easy, good time

If you're looking for someplace easy and laid back to throw back a couple of drinks with friends, Jones is it. And they have a great jukebox! It's like a dive bar, without being a dive.

Good Drinks, Good Eats

I seem to love places that are dark and have red booths. Throw in a red checkered table cloth and I'm even happier. I remember when this place opened many years ago and it was "the place" - and even though the scene has mellowed, it's still a good time. I'm recommending it for the bar atmosphere - there's always rocking tunes and stiff drinks and generally fun people watching - but if you're hungry, the kitchen stays open nice and late and you will be happy if you order the steamed artichoke, a pizza, and/or spaghetti & meatballs - as well as the tarte tatin, which comes sizzling hot in a cast iron pan.
