I know people who go with their families, but in my opinion this is the most romantic resort in Hawaii. There's not a whole lot going on in Kona, so there is no real reason to leave. If you are on a romantic trip, have an outdoor couple's massage. Marvel at the view and incredible seafood at the Pahui'a restaurant. Enjoy an Evian spritz at the infinity pool or take a swim in the ocean. Get your workout outside with some golf or tennis. Have the concierge arrange for horseback riding or a private plane tour over the volcanos on the island (those prone to motion sickness beware!). And when the day is done, retire to your ocean front room (recommended room type) and share a soak in the tub with your honey.

Don't bother renting a car because once you get there, you won't want to leave. Small bungalows give you a totally different vacation feel than most high rise hotels - and they solved the pool-chair problems by designing the resort with four pools and plenty of room for all. Book your tennis lessons in advance with super pro Jim, and try to get bungalow 18 or 25 - right at the oceanfront. Incredible spa - my fave is the hot stone massage and also beautiful oceanfront golf.

doesn't get any better than this with three great restaurants, exp Alam Wongs Grill. pricey. try to get a room near the ocean, but they are all luxe. the spa is very luxe and great workout areas.
