The Inside Word for Fenway Park

It's also a great city if you can find your way around because the streets are so confusing! But it is a fun city because there's an Irish pub on just about every block.

I always enjoy playing in ballparks like Dodger Stadium and Wrigley, and when I was in the AL, I enjoyed going to Fenway, Old Yankee Stadium, and I had the opportunity to play in the old Tiger Stadium. It's all the old places that are fun because of the history and all the people who have played and gone through these stadiums.

I thought it was overrated the first time I was here, but now they renovated and fixed it up. They have seats on top of the Green Monster, and I like the way they have the original seats between the bases -- from 1st to 3rd base, they are old seats, and they’re very thin and wooden. It’s so cool. It feels like you’re back in time. It's a great atmosphere. They close the streets down for a block or two around the ballpark.

This new amenity stuff is all fine - new parks are beautiful - but I like rickety old stadiums. When you walk into Fenway Park, it'll take your breath away. If you have a bucket list, even if you're not a baseball fan, go to Fenway Park first and then go Wrigley Field on your way home.

You’re right on top of the action. It’s a quaint ballpark. I had the pleasure of playing in it twice when I was in high school. Some of the amenities aren’t as good as the new ballparks, but that’s what makes it unique is that it's old. They’ve done a great job of renovating and updating some parts of it, but it’s just the greenness of it and the Green Monster. Stadiums just aren’t like that anymore. I love that they’ve maintained the field the way they have. It’s nice to see the old stadiums still exist. That’s what makes it so great is the history of the place.

I made my first trek to Boston a long time ago just to go to the park. After my tickets blew away getting out of the cab in traffic on the highway several blocks away, I managed to talk my way into the park (A+ for Red Sox customer service). It was the end of April and still freezing, but I was in heavenly bliss. The inside of this park...it's beautiful, historic, electric -- so hard to describe. You just have to go to understand. Boston fans crack me up. Love 'em, especially when they kept buying me beers.

You have to go to Fenway at some time in your life. It should be mandatory.

It might be sacreligious to be enamored of Fenway when you are a Yankees fan, but there you go. If you love baseball, you have to like this park.
