I have a soft spot for El Compadre. Had one of my first dates in LA there and got myself nice and sloppy, with a good dose of Mexican food. They have flaming margaritas with a heavy pouring of tequila, so you've been forewarned! Food is also pretty good. But it's really more about the place. It always feels festive and busy and energetic, which is exactly the type of environment I want when I go for Mexican food. The only thing is - there's almost always a wait. So be prepared to belly up to the bar!

Compadres is such a great place to go with a group of friends and has the BEST marguaritas in town. Fantastic atmosphere when they have the live "salsa" trio playing. The food is delicious (and I have pretty high standards for Mexican food). The ambiance is great. perfect mood lighting. perfect sound-level to have a nice first date as well.

Tip: The parking can be a bitch sometimes.
