OC Weekly Best Of
Costa Mesa, CABest Bar
Yes, it's more than a bar—it's a venue that books the best bands OC has to offer and amazing touring acts. But it still has that unassuming, pull-up-a-stool, whaddaya-have feel. You can kick back with friends and play pool in front of a fireplace and, of course, get wasted. Head in to groove to the live music or just lounge with a cocktail at one of their comfy booths that you don't have to be a high-roller to enjoy. The drinks are stiff but affordable, and the parking is always ample. (Being in a big-ass strip mall does have its advantages.) Sure, the patrons are—here comes that word again—hipsters, but they're mostly really nice! Don't be intimidated; just think of them as slightly scruffy men in skinny jeans and ladies with fabulous taste in shoes.

Male / 27 / Anaheim, CAGreat place to see a show!
If there is a band that I like, I will 99.9% of the time go to Detroit to see them. Not only do they serve decent drinks, the bands sound great when they play, and it's intimate since the venue is fairly small.
If you have nothing else better to do, Tuesdays are free and they usually have some pretty decent residency's that go through there.

Awesome indie scene. +21 and over; drinks aren't too expensive and they have awesome entertainment; i.e. local bands, some mainstream musicians come out and play and the DJ's always have dancers to their bumping music. The people are friendly. There is not always a cover charge. There are some night where you can come into the bar and listen to bands play for free!
