i grew up in New York and of course I am spoiled with performing arts, but I have a great time at the Denver Center for Performing Arts. It is right in the middle of the city, with a cool vibe and great architecture. it's a good time.
There are 6 theaters within this complex, each consistently bringing great shows. The complex itself is amazing in size and always makes for an entertaining evening out.
We are lucky to have such great theater options in Denver, considering we're no NY, Chicago or LA. The new Ellie Caulkins Opera House is amazing.
Get some culture in D-Town. This isn't Broadway but close enough. Every great musical out there comes here. So...get dressed up, have dinner and see a show. It's a great time. I've seen 'Rent', 'The Producers', 'I Love you, you're perfect, now change' and Billy Joel's Movin Out...to name a few.
Sometimes Denver canstill smell of the cowtown it was known as...but the DCPA has some of the best venues in the country. The local productions are quite good plus we get are fair share of national touring shows. It may not be NYC; but it is hell of lot cheaper.
