I was able to stay here on a layover at LAX. I was traveling with my family and while it is not really a family place, the hotel is very cool and provides great service.
When I walk in there, I think of super late night swanky parties with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.

The reviews were mixed, and I agreed with some that it's not really a "family" hotel. This place was a great boutique-style hotel, and perfect for doing LA on the cheap(er). Our bedspread had doggies in old English-style portraits. There was a ceramic chicken in our room. In the in-room bar/snack area, you could also buy American Apparel knee-socks, a sleep mask, fuzzy handcuffs and condoms. There was a flock of wooden sheep in the lobby. If it had been warmer, the pool would have been where I'd spent a lot of time, because the pool area was beautiful, and at night became a club scene. Only thing I didn't dig was the restaurant. It didn't quite have the atmosphere for me, especially at lunchtime. Food wasn't good. However, there is a grocery store right next door, and on the other side of the grocery store is a little old fashioned 40s/50s L.A.-style diner that does great breakfasts for pretty cheap and seems to be where all the local senior citizens hang out. I thought it was great.
