The Inside Word for Buddakan

... dining experience in NYC. It's nuovo Chinese food served up in a fun, cool and elegant way. The food is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend the Edamame dumplings in truffle oil. All the dumplings and dim sum is great. But what also makes this place great is that it is one of the biggest rooms you will ever eat in. It's a cavernous, modern asian theme decorated with about a 50 ft ceilings. The center of the restaurant has a super long table that can seat about 60 or so people. If you can get the whole table for your party, you'll surely have the birthday dinner to remember. This size restaurant only seems to happen in big cities like NY, but what is unusual is how good the food is consistently. It's a must if you're in NYC.

This place was such a big hit with my wife and I because of the scene here - it's almost a quiet but yet personable place. You can have a good conversation. They have good drinks, good food.

It has really a sexy, kind of like a nightclub vibe to it inside. The times I have eaten there, it's always set off the night in the right footsteps. It's always been a crazy night. It's a really good pre spot before you have a good night in New York. It's a higher end restaurant and it's got amazing food, too.

This was one of the top restaurants that Likeme suggested I try in NYC. Went there and was not disappointed. Multi-level restaurant/bar, very "happening" place. We ate in the bar area, had 5 or 6 tapas which were all great (green beans with fish, cod dish, dumplings, spare ribs).
Mostly young crowd, a lot of energy.

rarely does an entre taste like its worth more than 20 bucks in my food travels....this restaurant was no different. Very pricey, food won't disappoint, but you're paying for the ambiance which is very very good.

Buddakan in my opinion is the biggest, splashiest, most visually stunning restaurants in the Meatpacking District...hands down! It has an inviting lounge with a less pricey bar menu (for those with limited funds.) It has an enclosed soaring centerpiece courtyard with chandeliers and a communal table, which set a great mood...with your girl or a large party.
Dish: Lobster-stuffed egg roll cigars, chicken-filled General Tso's soup dumplings, and chile-glazed tempura rock shrimp.
Price: $$$
Tip: Request a seat downstairs in the library and order up a delicious affair of food. Open Thursdays through Saturdays 5:30 pm to 1 am. Bar and lounge open Wednesdays through Saturdays until 3 am.

And I would add, it's a great environment. Dark, music, lots of fun people. The spare ribs are amazing. You really can't go wrong. And it's downtown, so a short trip to all the bars and clubs afterwards.
And for you KNOCKED UP fans, Judd Apatow goes there everytime he is in NYC.

great scene, beautiful ambience, good food and drinks.. Theres a great lounge and bar area and the main dining area is stunning.. i recommend the dim sum, lobster fried rice, ribeye steak and the crispy shrimp.. Great desserts ive had where the crying chocolate and the coconut creme brulee..It can get very crowded at times with long waits to be seated, but for the most part its really a great place..
